How to take your measurements

The drawing below explains how to take your measurements. Each measurement has a number and a name allocated to it. You can find a list with pictures of examples below. Please always use the pictures as a reference when determining your measurements. After placing your order, you can submit the sizing form directly using the button above.

Tai Chi Clothing Custom Measurement Shoulder

Shoulder Width #1
This measurement is the width of your shoulders. The points you measure from are the outsides of your shoulders. The measuring tape should be behind your neck and laid down as flat as possible.

Tai Chi Clothing Custom Measurement Collar

Neck #2
The neck measurement is important for the collar. Place the tape around your neck and add a little bit extra for a comfortable feeling. We recommend not to add more than 5 cm (2 inches) to maintain the traditional look of the collar. Note: We don’t add anything extra to this measurement. Please make sure to determine the final circumference for your collar.

Taijiquan Clothing Custom Measurement Chest

Chest #3
Place the tape around your back, under your arm pits and around the highest part of your chest.

Tailormade Kungfu Clothing Measurement Sleeves

Long Open Sleeves #4 (if applicable)
The starting point for the sleeve length measurement is in the centre (spine) of your neck. From there you lay the tape over the shoulders and then down the arm. Your arms should hang down relaxed alongside your body. The recommended length is at about 3-5 cm (1-2 inches) past your wrist. (Towards knuckles)

Tailormade Custom Kung Fu Clothing Measurement Sword Sleeves

Long Sword Sleeves #5 (if applicable)
The starting point for the measurement of the sword sleeve is in the centre (spine) of your neck. From there you lay the tape over the shoulders and then down the arm. Your arms should hang down relaxed alongside your body. The recommended length is at about knuckle height.

Custom Tai Chi Kung Fu Clothing Wrist Measurement

Wrist #6
Just like the neck measurement, you put the tape around the wrist and then allow for a little bit of space. Note: We don’t add anything extra to this measurement. Please make sure to determine the final circumference for your sword cuffs.

Custom Kungfu Outfit Short sleeve measurement

Short Sleeves #7 (if applicable)
The starting point for the sleeve length measurement is in the centre (spine) of your neck. From there you lay the tape over the shoulders and then down the arm. Your arms should hang down relaxed alongside your body. The recommended length is anywhere between elbow and shoulder. We suggest wearing one of your own shirts to determine your desired length.

Qigong Uniform Custom Measurement Garment Length

Garment Length #8
This measurement starts just beside your neck. Place the tape on top of your shoulder muscle (the one that feels good when you massage it) and let it run down the front side of your body. This measurement determines the length of your upper garment. For example, if you want to order a piece of clothing with the robe-cut you would probably choose a longer length, whereas a short-sleeve often goes about 20-30 cm past the hip bone. It is up to you to decide. We recommend going into a horse stance to be able to visualize the look of your garment in action.

Custom Tai Chi Clothing Measurement for Waist

Waist #9
Place the tape around your waist at about belly button height.

Custom Tai Chi Clothing Measurement Hips

Hips #10
Place the tape around your hip at about the same height that your belt would sit at.

Tailoremade Custom Tai Chi Kung Fu Clothing Suit Uniform Pants Length Measurement

Pants Length (read carefully) #11
With OPEN LEGS: Measure from hip bone (upper edge of belt), down the side of the leg. Measure to the floor (or a bit less) to avoid walking on the pants during practice.

With ELASTIC BAND (recommended): First you measure all the way to the floor and then you add a minimum of 7 cm to the length. The more you add the more fabric will fall over the ankles. We recommend adding a bit more for practices with lower stances to ensure a flowing appearance.
